Hopefully your day is going well. Today I did not do any touristy things. I might have looked like a tourist trying to work the stove, but nothing too exciting.
The troubles of the day started in the morning. I was feeling like coking some eggs for breakfast. I grab the eggs, butter and frying pan and head down to the kitchen to make me some breakfast! I get to the stove, only to find out its a gas stove, and there's no way of lighting the damn thing. I looked all over the place, and there's no built in electric started either. So upsetting!
So depressed me returns to my room to have some cereal. I have one thing on my mind today. A wireless router. The need to have internet on my phone is growing!!! No iMessage, no What'sApp, no Magic Jack. How am I supposed to stay in touch all the time!!!
So I set out on the tram for one thing, a wireless router from Komputec, the computer store. It's located just inside the galeria Bałtycka. I pick it up, and while i'm there, I decide to buy some dish soap and sandwich bags for food storage. I also went to Saturn to buy American ->European plug adapters, and instead just bought a 240V-110V transducer in order to run my power bar, and all my Canadian devices off of it. It was cheaper this way then the other way.
On my venture home, I stop in at a bank and finally open a bank account. This was a smooth process, and as much as the girl said her English is bad, it was better than some of my 'english' professors at university in Canada.
I get home, and I am just parched. I decide that I could eat the whole frozen pizza I bought and decide to microwave it. Only to find out its not microwaveable. So off to the kitchen again. I then realize, as much as I forgot to buy a lighter to light the stove, there's also no temperature setting on the oven, or racks to place stuff on! I've had it and am now deciding to buy an electric grill. toaster oven, and maybe a hot plate. I'll just do all my cooking in my room. Obviously the kitchen dislikes me for some reason.
So I make some nice deli meat sandwiches for dinner with mayonnaise and mustard, and slice pickles. The bread was relatively still fresh as well. And I had a banana and strawberry yogurt with it as well.
I have also come to notice that there are a lot of sex and lingerie shops in Gdańsk. They are everywhere. Almost like Tim Horton's is in Canada. Also, I am on the hunt for a coffee shop that can do espressos and lattes!
Tomorrow, I'm venturing down to St. Mary's Basilica to climb the church tower. Also to visit Old Town as well. It's supposed to be gorgeous out, sunny and 18. I am glad I brought shorts with me!
Anyways, until tomorrow, do widzenia
